Xidan Commercial Street has stretched 880 metes from the Xidan crossing roads to Lingjing Hutong, with a width of 70 meters. A group of corridors has been build between various shops, business centers and office buildings. It has become a hub for clothes vendors, as are the two underground floors in the Xidan subway station.
The New Xidan Street is mainly composed of special shops with famous brands and stores for high tech products, including computers, software and telecommunications related commodities. The street concentrates on the development of entertainment, recreation ,food, and drinking sectors.
It is one of the major shopping centers in the western part of Beijing. What strong appeals Xidan offers to the tourist is the bustling commercial atmosphere. The area has been transformed from a traditional commercial marketplace into a comprehensive commercial area bring catering, entertainment, culture, tourism, finance, hotels, real estate and telecommunications together with commerce at the core.
