Oct 15 General Xu Great Wall Hike 1Day - Small Group with Max of 13 pax

Postby ChinaHiking » Tue Sep 26, 2017 3:10 pm

A fantastic 10 km off the beaten path Great Wall hike that includes beautiful mountains, flower fields, an ancient village and the magical Yangbian Great Wall. In this trip, you will see the beautiful sceneries of the Great Wall and the nature itself.

Hiking Duration: 4h
Departure time: 9:30 am
Back in Beijing: 6:00 pm
Hike level: 2 easy-medium
Price: 600RMB (540 RMB for kids 7-17, 480 RMB for membership, 300 RMB for kids younger than 7)

After an early lunch, our friendly local apple farmer will set us off for a 3-hour hike through hills and fields on the border of west Beijing. We will hike around 1 hour on the gentle slope and reach on the Great Wall. After a short break, we start hiking up to the Great Wall. It’s a 1.5-hour hike to the highest point of the Great Wall in this area. There are a few parts where the wall is quite crumbled down but with a little help of your balance, they are easy to overcome. From the top of the Yangbian Great Wall, we’ll have a fantastic view over the valley, part of the Border Defense Great Wall and even the Guanting Lake.

Our second part of the hike goes over a mountain, through orchards and sunflower fields and towards the ancient Dayingpan Village. It’s a beautiful village that the government just started restoring. Only a few families are still living in this picturesque place but it seems like people are coming back. We will enjoy the sceneries and take some photos. Just around the corner, our driver will pick us up and bring us back to Beijing.

Level 2:Easy-medium
We rate this trip level 2 as it is a 1day hike on a fairly easy trail. There is one uphill hike of about half an hour to start with. The rest of the trail is just slightly going up and down. It’s a perfect trip for families with kids and people with an average physical condition will enjoy the trip as well. It is a safe trail but there are a few slippery spots so its good to wear shoes with a good grip.
