Peking University School of Chinese as a Second Language

The Center for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language was established in 1984 and on such basis, the School of Chinese as a Second Language was officially founded in 2002.

Until August 2006, the School has 58 full-time faculty members in total including three professors and 22 associate professors and above 85% of them have passed the national examination and have obtained the qualification issued by the Ministry of Education for teaching Chinese as a second language.

Admissions

Undergraduate students: the applicant must be between 18 and 30 years old, and has received senior high school full-time normal education or above.

Master students: the applicant must be under 40 years old (including) with a bachelor degree.

Doctoral students: the applicant must be under 45 years old (including) with a master degree.

Visiting scholars: the applicant must be under 55 years old with a doctoral degree or with a professional title of associate professor or above.

General visiting students: the applicant must be between 18 and 45 years old with one year’s education in college or above.

Senior visiting students: the applicant must be under

50 years old with a master degree or above.

Accommodation

The Shaoyuan Hotel is exclusively responsible for receiving international students and the accommoda- tion fee is about ¥30, 000 per year. Rooms are limited and can only be offered to students with scholarships.
